There really is nothing worse than having a bolt of lightening hit your house and fry many of your electronics out of existence. My sister just recently had that happen and it has turned her world totally upside down and it will take many months in order to get all things straightened out and back to normal. In the mean time she is now looking into various power supplies and surge protectors to buy and put into use so that nothing like this will happen again. This is the second time that this has happened to her and she doesn’t want to have to go through it a third time. I’m just glad that no one was hurt, that is the main thing for her to keep in mind.
Lightening has been causing tremendous problems as of late, this is the time of year that we hear several stories about lightening on the news. I just read an email from my mother where she was telling me of some long time family friends of ours, that own some property on the river, have just recently lost their summer beach home due to a single lightening strike just the other week.
A neighbor was at home during the storm and actually witnessed the strike and called 911 immediately, they didn’t get there in time to save the house but did manage to keep it from spreading to the woods and other summer homes close by. Luckily no one was at home, and that no one was injured, but the entire house is totaled and the family beach home was insured. It will take some time, but a new house will be built and life will go on.
Just wanted to give a shot out to the good people that are going to be walking door to door on the 31st trick or treating. Please be careful out there this year. Last year we had several injuries from some of the teenagers that had nothing better to do on Halloween.
After all this time we haven’t found a cure for AIDS yet. I know the disease first came to light in the early 1980’s. So it has been at least 28 years. We have cured polio and smallpox – we need to cure AIDS. I gave our AIDS group a $25 donation when they held their walk-a-thon in late October. I hope you can find it in your heart to donate something today, to commemorate World AIDs Day.
