New Year, new me, right? Well, I’m trying! This is the year I am going to get my house organized, but first I am starting with my home office.
Setting up a home office does not have to be in a designated room. A home office can be a nook or alcove. You can use a folding screen if you don’t want your work space visible to the rest of the room.
Once you decide on a space there are so many products on the market to keep you organized. I am installing shelves on the wall above my desk. There I am placing fabric covered boxes to file my paper work in. I think it’s just more fun than using a file cabinet. Each box equals one file for home, insurance, car, etc. You can also choose baskets or bins to keep your paper out of sight which will give your home office a decluttered look.
Another good thing is a monitor stand. Not only does it raise your monitor to a comfortable eye level, but allows space for your phone, stapler, clips and coffee mug.
You can also add a cork board or white board on the wall to post immediate action items or write thoughts you are brain storming.
I’m off to the office supply store!
Can’t seem to talk with anyone or go anywhere and not find that someone is sick. A lot of it is being blamed on the weather and allergies along with most people not washing their hands enough. I haven’t heard of anyone having the flu as of yet, guess more and more people are getting their flu shots, I know I always do and urge anyone that hasn’t done it yet to hurry up and get theirs before it is too late.
We are a home filled with animal lovers so of course our house is filled with a variety of animals. I am lucky in the fact that other family members actually do pitch in with all the work that it takes to take care of all of these critters. I remember the first dog that we got, my mother had a fit, swearing that I would be sorry, telling me that I would be the only one taking care of him. I am always happy to prove my mother wrong and this time it is no different.
The only real issue at this point is the inevitable stains that appear on my wall-to-wall carpet that is covering the majority of the floors in the upper level of the house. I used to rent a carpet cleaning machine every couple of months, what a pain in the rear that was, it was a great Christmas when I received my own carpet cleaning machine as a present.! T
he machine works real well but there are a few places that are really being stubborn so I took some time and looked online to find some carpet cleaning tips pet stains and was dismayed to find nothing that I had not all ready tried in the past to no avail.
But what I did find is a local company at The Steam Team that offers a solution that I had not heard or tried yet. After cleaning urine spots, you immediately blot until no more moisture comes up with a white terry cloth towel or plain white paper towels. Then you mix 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water and massage into the spot with a white terry cloth, do not rub. After flushing as much of the urine out as possible blot with dry cloths until the feel dry to the touch. And if you have a small extraction machine you should flush with clean water until the spot is totally removed. If that doesn’t work they suggest contacting them and have them come in and let the professionals do what they do best, which is exactly what I plan on doing after trying their solution tomorrow.
When I lived in California we had two dog parks close to my house. One was a small fenced aread with a lot of things to climb and crawl through. The other park was a large field where the dogs could actually run and chase frisbees or tennis balls. We used to go to the dog park 3 – 4 times a week.
Ever since we moved away I have not been able to find any kind of dog park anywhere around here. There is no place where I can safely take my dogs off the leash and let them run. I really miss that.
It is being said to call the toll free number that I all ready have in my contact list on my cell phone, because as of sometime in the first week of March everyone’s cell phone number will go public, which means that we can expect to receive up to 25 various telemarketing calls a day, if you don’t call and place your number on the Do Not Call List. Every couple of years we hear that something has passed and to call this number, so I have never deleted these past couple years.
I wish that it was that easy to block and stop collection harassment for good with a phone call to a toll free number, but alas I don’t see that happening, ever. My brother-in-law, out in L.A. is seeking legal help to help stop collection harassment California style it has gotten so out of control for them.
I would not like to be the other person on the other end of any unwanted phone calls from him or anyone really. To spend the day really putting people in a bad mood would certainly put a damper on my mood and attitude.
