We Love Each and Every One of Our Pets

We are a home filled with animal lovers so of course our house is filled with a variety of animals. I am lucky in the fact that other family members actually do pitch in with all the work that it takes to take care of all of these critters. I remember the first dog that we got, my mother had a fit, swearing that I would be sorry, telling me that I would be the only one taking care of him. I am always happy to prove my mother wrong and this time it is no different.

The only real issue at this point is the inevitable stains that appear on my wall-to-wall carpet that is covering the majority of the floors in the upper level of the house. I used to rent a carpet cleaning machine every couple of months, what a pain in the rear that was, it was a great Christmas when I received my own carpet cleaning machine as a present.! T

he machine works real well but there are a few places that are really being stubborn so I took some time and looked online to find some carpet cleaning tips pet stains and was dismayed to find nothing that I had not all ready tried in the past to no avail.

But what I did find is a local company at The Steam Team that offers a solution that I had not heard or tried yet. After cleaning urine spots, you immediately blot until no more moisture comes up with a white terry cloth towel or plain white paper towels. Then you mix 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water and massage into the spot with a white terry cloth, do not rub. After flushing as much of the urine out as possible blot with dry cloths until the feel dry to the touch. And if you have a small extraction machine you should flush with clean water until the spot is totally removed. If that doesn’t work they suggest contacting them and have them come in and let the professionals do what they do best, which is exactly what I plan on doing after trying their solution tomorrow.

Dog Parks

When I lived in California we had two dog parks close to my house. One was a small fenced aread with a lot of things to climb and crawl through. The other park was a large field where the dogs could actually run and chase frisbees or tennis balls. We used to go to the dog park 3 – 4 times a week.

Ever since we moved away I have not been able to find any kind of dog park anywhere around here. There is no place where I can safely take my dogs off the leash and let them run. I really miss that.

Promise Me An Early Spring

No one in my house likes Winter very much but we accept it as a necessary evil to endure on behalf of Mother Nature and the overall good. Winter is cold, wet and dark. I’ve had enough of that already and here it is only February. In these parts, Spring doesn’t normally come until the end of March.

But today we got good news! The groundhog did not see his shadow this morning, so he is promising us an early Spring! I truly hope that we have nicer weather in early March and that the groundhog is right about his prediction.

For The Love of Dogs

It looks like it is time to start looking for new collars and new dog tags for dogs. The ones that our two beloved dogs are wearing now have both seen better days at this point. Actually I think I will look for harnesses for them to wear instead of a collar, I have been hearing that these harnesses are much better for Pugs since there has been an issue with their eyes popping out of their sockets while wearing collars that are too tight and then pulled on. That would not be a good thing for any of us to witness or deal with. I can’t even imagine how any of us would re act to something like that and of course with our luck it would happen at night or on the weekend when non of the local vets would be open for us to take them to.

We have been seeing some pretty cool custom dog tags for dogs online lately that I want to check out later on today. So I might as well look at harnesses as well even though we have a local Petco in town that we do business with from time to time. I really do prefer to do as much shopping online as possible. The one good thing about going to this particular store is that you are allowed to bring your pets in with you and makes for a good outing for the whole family. Unfortunately neither one of our Pugs do well in the car, after 15 minutes of riding one or the other will certainly throw up and that is no fun to deal with while trying to drive. And the kids don’t take kindly with riding the rest of the way there with vomit on their laps and various other places in the car!

Nursery Rhyme

If someone asked you to recite a nursery rhyme, which one comes to mind first?

The one that I though of is “Hickory Dickory Dock, a Mouse ran up the clock.”

I have no idea why that came to mind just now but I’m sure there is some deep psychological reason. LOL

what do you think of
